Nutritious Meals, Meaningful Connection

We’re committed to ensuring that seniors and adults with disabilities in Lake Oswego have reliable access to healthy meals and the social connection that supports overall well-being.

Meals on Wheels in Lake Oswego operates through the Lake Oswego Adult Community Center, with volunteers delivering meals to homebound residents three times each week. The Meals on Wheels Board plays an active role in community outreach—building awareness, fundraising, and bringing local businesses, organizations, and individuals “to the table” through donations, sponsorships, grants, and events.

Our History

  • The Lake Oswego Meal Network begins as The Welcome Break, a six-month pilot project created by seven local church parishes to test interest in a lunch program for older residents. Meals were served at a small house on Avenue A, later moving to Our Lady of the Lake Parish Hall. The program was inspired by growing concerns about malnutrition among older adults.

  • The Lake Oswego Adult Community Center opens at 5th Street and Avenue G, becoming the new location for meal service.

  • The volunteer Welcome Break Board manages all meal program operations, including staffing, ordering, and equipment. As responsibilities grew and legal risks increased, the City of Lake Oswego assumed program management. The Welcome Break Board became the Lake Oswego Meal Network Advisory Board (LOMNAB).

  • LOMNAB transitions from an operational board to an advisory board while keeping its 501(c)(3) nonprofit status. The Board focuses on fundraising to cover program deficits, providing feedback, and promoting the program in partnership with the City.

  • First Co-Chairs Andy Harris and Gail Keck help formalize board leadership, bylaws, and mission. They launch new fundraising partnerships (including Safeway Market), pursue grants, and introduce the popular Cinnamon Roll Fundraiser featuring former chef Jo Volm’s well-known recipe.

  • LOMNAB partners with New Seasons Market Mountain Park to establish a sustainable fundraising model. Volunteers assist in-store throughout October to encourage donations at checkout. In later years, New Seasons shifts its annual fundraising window to November and rebrands it as Donate Dinner.

  • New Seasons Palisades joins the annual Donate Dinner efforts, expanding community support for Meals on Wheels Lake Oswego.
